Window Replacement by Burlington Neighbourhood
Burlington was built in distinct waves, and the age of a home usually tells us a lot about what we will find behind the old frames:
| Area | Typical homes | What we usually look at |
|---|---|---|
| Aldershot, Roseland, Shoreacres | Post-war bungalows and two-storeys, many close to the lake | Wind-driven rain, ageing retrofit windows, keeping the home's character |
| Downtown and the Brant Street area | Older homes and newer infill close to traffic and the waterfront | Noise control, slim sightlines, smaller openings |
| Tyandaga, Mountainside, Brant Hills | 1960s and 1970s splits and two-storeys | Original frames or first-generation replacements ready for a full upgrade |
| Headon Forest, Millcroft, Tansley Woods | 1980s and 1990s subdivisions | Builder-grade units with failed seals and worn hardware |
| The Orchard, Alton Village | 2000s family subdivisions | Road noise, builder window upgrades, larger glass areas |
These are patterns rather than rules. We assess every home individually, because two houses on the same street can have had very different renovations.
Built for Lake Ontario Weather
Burlington sits between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment, and that position is hard on windows. Homes near the water take wind-driven rain off the lake, exposed lots along the Escarpment can catch stronger wind, and every home goes through a long run of freeze-thaw cycles each winter.
That is why we lean toward tilt-and-turn and casement windows on exposed walls. Both close against compression seals with multi-point locking, which holds up better in wind-driven rain than a sliding seal. Pair them with Low-E, argon-filled glass and you also reduce the cold-surface condensation many older Burlington homes see in January.
Noise is the other local factor. Homes near the QEW, Highway 403, Highway 407 or the Lakeshore rail corridor often benefit from laminated acoustic glass. Our soundproof windows page explains how that works.
Window Styles We Install in Burlington
- Tilt-and-turn. Tilts in for secure ventilation and swings in for easy cleaning, which is handy on upper floors.
- Casement. Side-hinged with a tight seal and full ventilation. See our casement windows in Burlington page.
- Awning.** Hinged at the top to shed rain, and a good choice for basements, bathrooms and above fixed glass.
- Slider and single or double hung.** Familiar, easy-to-use styles that suit many Burlington facades.
- Slim-frame and fixed picture windows.** Maximum glass for lake and garden views.
We install both multi-chamber uPVC (vinyl) and thermally broken aluminum lines. Vinyl windows are a strong value for whole-home replacements in Burlington, while aluminum suits slim sightlines and large glass in modern renovations. Curious how the European approach differs? What Window Replacement Costs in Burlington
Pricing varies with style, glass and frame. As a general 2026 guide for supplied-and-installed windows in Burlington:
| Window type | Typical installed range (per window) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard vinyl double-glazed | $650 – $950 | Budget replacements, sheltered openings |
| Energy Star casement / awning | $900 – $1,400 | Efficiency, tight seal, ventilation |
| European tilt-and-turn (triple) | $1,200 – $1,900 | Best comfort, quiet and winter warmth |
A typical 10–15 window home commonly falls between $12,000 and $24,000. These are ranges rather than quotes, so we provide a free, itemized in-home quote for your actual openings. Our rebates guide covers what programs may apply.
Full-Frame or Insert Replacement?
There are two ways to replace a window, and a good quote should tell you which one you are getting. An insert replacement sets a new window inside the existing frame. It is faster, disturbs less trim and costs less, but it only makes sense where the old frame is sound and square, and you lose a little glass area.
A full-frame replacement removes the window back to the rough opening. That lets us inspect for rot, insulate and air-seal the gap, and restore the full glass size. It costs more, but it is often where the real comfort gain comes from. In Burlington's older lakeside homes, it is common to find frames that are worth removing rather than covering up.
Repair or Replace?
Not every problem needs a new window. A worn crank, tired weatherstripping or one failed sealed unit in an otherwise healthy frame can often be repaired. We will tell you if that is the case.
Replacement usually makes more sense when several of these are true: fog between the panes on more than one window, drafts with the sash closed, frost on interior glass in deep cold, soft or cracked frames, sashes that are painted shut, or windows more than 20 years old and builder-grade from the start. At that point the money is better spent on warrantied units than repeated repairs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do replacement windows cost in Burlington?
Most Burlington homeowners invest roughly $650 to $1,900 per window installed, depending on style, glass and frame. A typical 10 to 15 window home commonly runs $12,000 to $24,000. Eurostar provides a free, itemized in-home quote.
Do you have an office in Burlington?
Yes. Our Burlington office is at 1400 Plains Rd E, and you can reach the team at (905) 581-4015. We serve Burlington and nearby communities including Oakville, Hamilton and Waterdown.
Which windows are best for Burlington's climate?
For exposed walls near the lake or the Escarpment, we usually recommend tilt-and-turn or casement windows with multi-point locking, because they seal tightly against wind-driven rain. Low-E, argon-filled double or triple glazing handles the cold.
How long does window replacement take?
A typical Burlington home of 8 to 12 windows is usually completed in one to three days. We handle removal, installation, sealing, trim and clean-up. Custom manufacturing happens before installation day.
Should I choose full-frame or insert replacement?
Insert replacement suits sound, square frames and costs less. Full-frame replacement costs more but lets us deal with rot, insulate and air-seal the opening, and it restores the full glass size. We will recommend one after inspecting your frames.
Do you install vinyl windows in Burlington?
Yes. We install multi-chamber uPVC (vinyl) windows as well as thermally broken aluminum lines, in tilt-and-turn, casement, awning, slider and hung styles.
